Stanley

Stanley discovered yoga when he was recuperating from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Yoga's therapeutic nature helped him keep fit despite the physical limitations during his healing period. After his recovery he continued his yoga practice and incorporated it into his daily regime and seek a more holistic form of lifestyle. Yoga had not only helped him to recover from his injuries, it had provided him with more energy and to be more focused in his day to day objectives. In 2002, he gave up his job in the arts field to be a yoga teacher knowing and believing that yoga can help to heal people both physically and mentally.

His passion and interest for yoga also drove him to further explore and enrich his yoga knowledge led him to Mysore, South India, to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the eminent Ashtanga guru and his grandson, Sharath Rangaswamy. It has been then become a yearly ritual to return to the source for self improvement and enrichment. Stanley has also received blessing from guruji to teach the Ashtanga system.
Denise

Denise has gained a lot since embarking on her yoga journey in January 2001. It started off purely as physical exercise. She developed strength, flexibility (she failed sit-and-reach in the physical fitness test!) and balance. As she practiced more regularly however, she discovered the internal benefits that yoga brings. Focusing on the breath helps to quieten her mind, building self-awareness and calmness which she carry over from her practice to daily life. As the body becomes more familiar with the poses, it is free to move with the breath, resulting in ‘meditation in motion’. After each practice, she feels calmer and refreshed - in body, mind and spirit.
Yoga will be different things to different people. To some, it’ll just be a weekly exercise. To others, it’ll become a way of life. Teaching gives Denise the opportunity to share her own yoga experience with others, so that they can embark on their own personal journeys. Her satisfaction comes from watching students evolve and grow as they develop their own practice.
Vivian

Vivian first encountered yoga when she was around 8 years old. Her mother had a book on Hatha Yoga and she followed the instructions and pictures within! She started practicing Ashtanga Yoga in the late 1990s in Perth, Australia. This year, 2007, has been a turning point for her. She began a daily practice and assisting Stanley. In July, she took the journey to the source of Ashtanga Yoga - to Mysore in India to meet Guru Sri K Pattabhi Jois and practice under the guidance of his grandson, Sharath Rangaswamy. This powerful and flowing practice of yoga has given her glimpses into spirit, self and nature, and a sense of peace and well-being. As a student of yoga, Vivian wishes to continue learning, practicing and sharing knowledge with others on the same path.
